Top 5 things to do in the Chaleur Local Service Districts | Summer 2021

Here are 5 of our favourite things to do in our Local Service Districts!

 Published Jun 06

Surrounding the different municipalities of the Chaleur region are the Local Service Districts. This is where you find the hidden gems that complement the magic our region has to offer. Places and sights so special that you will be reaching for your camera or phone to capture the beauty that’s right in front of you.

Here are 6 of our favourite things to do in our Local Service Districts!

1) Camping on the Mi'gmaq Trail

[Nepisiguit Mi’gmaq Trail]

The Sentier Nepisiguit Mi'gmaq Trail has historically been used by local Mi'gmaq people; the first trek is estimated at 5,000 years ago. This trail is a 147 km single-track hiking trail that follows the mighty Nepisiguit River from mountains to sea. For multi-day hikes, rest up at the many campsites along the trail. Watch the sunset and sunrise; listen to the river and the birds, relax and enjoy nature at its best. Here, you'll make memories to last a lifetime.

2) Nepisiguit ATV Trails

[ATV Chaleur Club]

With more than 400 km of trails from St-Sauveur to Jacquet River, our trails are filled with unique places that each have their own history and charm. These trails will provide easy access to legendary spots such as Governors Lodge and Lake Antinouri. Do not miss Upper Tetagouche Lake and Devil's Elbow on your way back. Alone or with your Steady 15, our ATV trails are yours to explore!

3) Patty’s Beach Chalets

[Patty's Beach Chalets]

If you're looking to relax #ChaleurStyle, look no further than Patty's Beach Chalets. Located at 26 Janeville Beach Road, these quaint cedar-log chalets are your home away from home…without the stress! Each chalet offers you everything you need for an amazing vacation: two bedrooms, private patio, dining/living room with a sofa bed, Wi-Fi, bathroom with shower and a fully equipped kitchen, kayaks – all you need is your own food!

4) Pokeshaw beach

[Pokeshaw Beach]

Pokeshaw is truly a beach like no other. Located approximately 35 km from Bathurst, this photographer's paradise is the perfect place to catch our legendary Chaleur region sunset in its full splendor. Walk along the newly-built observatory for that absolutely perfect view of Bird Island. A visit to Pokeshaw beach isn’t complete without some proper exploration however, and at the bottom of the cliff is where you’ll step foot in what seems like an entirely different world. With family, friends, or even by yourself with your favorite book, Pokeshaw Beach is the perfect spot to unplug and fall in love.

5) Pabineau Falls

[Pabineau Falls]

[Pabineau Seafood Restaurant]

While not technically in the LSDs, Pabineau Falls – located in the Pabineau First Nation – is a picturesque stop you won't want to miss. Nothing short of impressive throughout the entire year, with the incredible landscape that surrounds them, the Pabineau Falls shine with exquisite beauty in the summer. Stop by for a quick photo op or spend an entire day by the Nepisiguit River – whatever you do, be sure to put Pabineau Falls on your Chaleur to-do list this summer!

Of course, part of the beauty of the Chaleur region is the close proximity between each town and city. If you're looking for activities within a short distance from the Chaleur Local Service Districts, you may want to take a look at our other Summer 2021 suggestions:
