Our freshwater and saltwater systems promote a unique variety of fish species!

The Bay of Chaleur is home to an abundance of striped bass, mackerel, trout, smelt, flat-fish and a variety of shellfish such as lobster, scallops and clams. You can find trout, Atlantic salmon and landlocked salmon in our rivers.

The Youghall Beach point is a popular spot for bass and mackerel fishing! Grab your gear, chair and cooler for a relaxing evening at this picturesque location. If you happen to have a boat, there is a slip available for your convenience. Afterwards, pop by the Marina for a drink or an ice cream from the Singing Nomad Cafe! 

Tip: the sunsets are incredible, make sure to take pictures!

Note: The commercial mackerel fishery has been canceled for the 2022 season. Stay tuned for regulations on recreational fishing.

We’re Here for the Lobster Rolls

The Bay of Chaleur is known for producing some of the most tender and succulent lobster on the East Coast! There’s nothing like a fresh lobster dinner with all the fixins’ after a beach day!

Although you can purchase lobster year-round in New Brunswick, Chaleur lobster is best in-season (May-June).

Clam digging is a popular activity on the Bay of Chaleur! Spend the day digging clams with friends and family, then head back to your campsite/cottage/trailer for a delicious clam feast!
