History:
Dreamcatcher is a traditionally a handmade hoop, on which is woven a net or web. The dreamcatcher may also include sacred items such as certain feathers or beads. As progress in supplies have come, a dreamcatcher can be constructed from a variety of different materials.

Native American beadwork, like quill work before it, is a decorative art form. Almost as soon as seed beads were available, native women invented two techniques for using them: loom beading and applique embroidery. Since then, many other stitching techniques have been incorporated like Peyote stitches, brickstitch, square stitch and ladder stitch to name a few.

Sweet grass, a traditional medicine, is incorporated into many art pieces nowadays, like dreamcatchers. Fur, Leather and beads are popular in many different styles of the dreamcatchers as well. They can come in a variety of sizes, colors and styles.

Local artisans are: Stephanie Peter-Paul, Lisa Prisk, Elizabeth Prisk, Marie Kryszko and Rose Kryszko (plus her children).
